RIGHTS OF THE CHILD

PRINCIPLE 1 - ALL CHILDREN ARE ENTITLED TO THESE RIGHTS, WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF RACE, COLOR, SEX, LANGUAGE, RELIGION, SOCIAL STATUS OR NATIONALITY, IF YOU OR YOUR FAMILY.

PRINCIPLE 2 - THE CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO BE UNDERSTOOD AND PROTECTED, AND SHOULD HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO THEIR PHYSICAL, MENTAL, MORAL, SPIRITUAL AND SOCIAL HEALTHY AND NORMAL MANNER AND IN CONDITIONS OF FREEDOM AND DIGNITY. THE LAWS SHOULD TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD.

PRINCIPLE 3 - EVERY CHILD IS ENTITLED TO A NAME AND A NATIONALITY.

PRINCIPLE 4 - THE CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO GROW AND DEVELOP IN HEALTH, NUTRITION, HOUSING, RECREATION AND MEDICAL SERVICES, AND MOTHER, A SPECIAL PROTECTION AND CARE, INCLUDING CARE BEFORE AND AFTER CHILDBIRTH.

PRINCIPLE 5 - PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY DISABLED CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION AND CARE FOR THE COUNTRY AND THE WHOLE FAMILY.

PRINCIPLE 6 - THE CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING, AND SHOULD GROW, WHERE POSSIBLE, UNDER THE PROTECTION OF PARENTS, AN ATMOSPHERE OF AFFECTION AND MORAL AND MATERIAL SECURITY TO DEVELOP THEIR PERSONALITY. SOCIETY AND PUBLIC AUTHORITIES SHOULD PROVIDE SPECIAL CARE FOR CHILDREN WITHOUT FAMILIES AND THOSE WITHOUT ADEQUATE MEANS OF SUBSISTENCE. IT IS DESIRABLE TO PROVIDE AID, AND OTHER MEASURES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF CHILDREN OF FAMILIES.

PRINCIPLE 7 - THE CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION, TO DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS, THEIR ABILITY TO MAKE JUDGMENTS, FEELINGS AND SENSE OF MORAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD SHALL BE THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE, THAT RESPONSIBILITY LIES, FIRST, TO THE PARENTS. THE CHILD SHALL HAVE FULL OPPORTUNITY FOR PLAY AND RECREATION, TARGETING THE SAME PURPOSES AS EDUCATION, SOCIETY AND PUBLIC AUTHORITIES SHALL ENDEAVOR TO PROMOTE THE ENJOYMENT OF THIS RIGHT.

PRINCIPLE 8 - A CHILD, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SHOULD BE AMONG THE FIRST TO RECEIVE PROTECTION AND RELIEF ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

PRINCIPLE 9 - CHILDREN MUST BE PROTECTED AGAINST ALL FORMS OF NEGLECT, ABANDONMENT, CRUELTY AND EXPLOITATION. YOU SHOULD NOT WORK WHEN YOU COMMIT TO THEIR EDUCATION, THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH OR MORALS.

PRINCIPLE 10 - THE CHILD MUST BE CREATED IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF UNDERSTANDING, TOLERANCE, FRIENDSHIP AMONG PEOPLES, PEACE AND UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD AND IN FULL CONSCIOUSNESS THAT HIS ENERGY AND TALENTS SHOULD BE PUT IN THE SERVICE OF HIS FELLOWS, WITHOUT SLAVE LABOR.

WE TREAT OUR CHILDREN WITH DUE RESPECT AND AFFECTION.
REMEMBER THAT OUR CHILDREN OF TODAY WILL BE THE FUTURE OF YOUR GRANDCHILDREN TOMORROW.
